The festival
Every year in early August, the New France Festivals transformed Old Quebec into an open theatre of the 17th and 18th centuries, a period in North America where the city of Quebec played a major role on the continent. The 29th edition was held from Thursday, August 6 to Sunday, August 9, 2026. Shows, historical animations, characters in costume, lectures and immersive games revive the era in the streets of the old capital.
The event is presented by the Quebec City Historical Festivals Corporation.
