The festival
At Fuji Motosuko Resort, south of Motosu Lake, in the Five Lakes region, Fuji Shibazakura Festival deploys a carpet of pink, white and purple moss phlox (shibazakura) in front of Mount Fuji every spring. The 19th edition of 2026 gathered about 500,000 plants of six varieties over 15,000 m2, from April 11 to May 24, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Full flowering is usually in late April-early May, when the contrast between the pink carpet and snowy Fuji is the most striking. Stands of local products and specialties of the region complete the visit.
