The festival
The Ga Homowo Carnival is the contemporary festive platform of the Homowo, the traditional harvest festival of the people of Accra, organized under the patronage of the Ga Traditional Council. The 2026 edition, marking 200 years of the Battle of Katamanso, takes place from 6 to 9 August 2026 in James Town and Bukom (Ga Mashie): procession of return (Soobii), twin festival, great climax of Saturday and concert of thanksgiving.
