The festival
The Heilala Festival is Tonga's largest festival, the last Polynesian kingdom: one to two weeks of celebrations in Nuku'alofa, the capital, around the king's birthday, July 4 — in 2026, from June 22 to July 5. Named after the heilala, the national flower that flourishes this season, it aligns parade with tanks, fanfare and singing contests, traditional Tongian night, great ball and, as a point of view, the Miss Heilala contest, whose winner becomes Miss Tonga.
A kingdom festival, between royal protocol, festive villages and diaspora returned to the country.
You are at a festival, a concert, a village party, a traditional party, a private party — even two or three, on a boat or on a plane? Send us your images: Festival TV analyses them, and if they are broadcast, they pass on with your name in credit. Program in preparation. All the parties of the world interest us: we want to see how different communities celebrate life and manifest their joy.
