João Rock
João Rock · Ribeirão Preto, Brésil
The festival
João Rock was born in 2002 in Ribeirão Preto, in the interior of São Paulo, with a simple idea: to celebrate Brazilian music in all its families — rock, rap, reggae and MPB. Its name pays tribute to the drummers named João or John, from João Barone (Os Paralamas do Suceso) to John Bonham (Led Zeppelin). In more than twenty years, the festival has presented about 300 concerts and has established itself as one of the most important in the country.
The format is intense: only one day, five scenes and more than 27 attractions, in front of 55,000-60,000 people gathered at the Permanent Park of Exposições. The edition 2026, on August 1, aligned CPM 22, Os Paralamas do Sucesso, Detonautas, Criolo, Zé Ramalho, Marina Sena and BaianaSystem, among many others.
Radio 89 FM – A Rádio Rock, the official radio of the festival, broadcasts the concerts in full: BaianaSystem's "completo show" at the 2026 edition, Afro-electro de Salvador de Bahia, looks at itself in our media library.
