Kadayawan
Harvest Festival and 11 Tribes · Davao, Philippines
The festival
The Kadayawan is the great graceful action party of Davao, the metropolis of Mindanao: a celebration of life, gifts of nature, the richness of cultures and the abundance of crops. The festival was first called Apo Duwaling, named after three emblems of Davao: Mount Apo, the Durian and the Waling-Waling Orchid. Its heart beats for the eleven tribes of the city, indigenous peoples and moros, whose living cultures parade through the streets.
The main focus of the program is the Indak-Indak Sa Kadayawan, the major street dance competition, and the Kadayawan village, a showcase of crafts and traditions. The 39th edition, in August 2026, held its central program from August 7 to 16 — the coronation of the Hiyas Sa Kadayawan on August 13, final Pamurak ug Indak-Indak on August 16 — with festivities as early as July and entertainment throughout the month. Once focused on the third week of August, the Kadayawan became the festival of a whole month.
Good to know
Security was reinforced during the festival (more than 19,000 personnel deployed in 2026): some items are prohibited on the sites (backpacks, opaque containers).
