The festival
In Oudtshoorn, in the heart of Petit Karoo, KKNK — Klein Karoo Nasionale Kunstefees, the national arts festival of Petit Karoo — is the great meeting place for the Afrikaan-language arts. Theatre, dance, music, humour and visual arts invade the city for several days, and many stage creations live their first time there before they tour the country. Officially recognized as a national arts festival, it has been beating the cultural heart of the region since the 1990s.
