London Choro Festival
Choro — Brazilian music · Copper Cats, Dalston, London
The festival
London Choro Festival — launched in 2025 by a team of musicians and lovers of the volunteer choro, the London Choro Festival beats Dalston's heart at the rhythm of this Brazilian music born in Rio de Janeiro at the end of the 19th century — virtuosity playing ragtime, classical delicacy, spontaneity of jazz and rhythms of African influence. Its second edition, from 16 to 18 October 2026 in Copper Cats, gathered concerts, workshops, meetings and rodas of choro, these circles where musicians and listeners share music.
On the 2026 program: the quintet Alvorada and its guests in opening, with a tribute to the centenary of Moacir Santos, accordionist Nonato Lima, the Duo In Uno, and a showcase of the choro community of the United Kingdom — Bath, Cambridge, London, Oxford, Salisbury.
