The festival

Maitisong — "the place of entertainment" — is the great festival of the living arts of Botswana, born in 1987 around the Maitisong theatre of the Maru-a-Pula school in Gaborone. Theatre, dance, music, poetry and visual arts spread there for about ten days, between the big stage, school classes and squares of the capital, with workshops and masterclasses for young talent. The 2025 edition, under the theme "Home", made Gaborone vibrate from October 3 to 12.

This is the meeting where Botswana is told in stories, songs and shared scenes.

Created in 1987. Recent editions: October 2025 and August 2026.

Your images are worth Festivos

You are at a festival, a concert, a village party, a traditional party, a private party — even two or three, on a boat or on a plane? Send us your images: Festival TV analyses them, and if they are broadcast, they pass on with your name in credit. Program in preparation. All the parties of the world interest us: we want to see how different communities celebrate life and manifest their joy.
