The festival

A home where we recognize ourselves: born in 2009, the Montreal LGBTQ+ Afro Film and Arts Festival, for its 18th edition, under the theme "Memoirs vivantes", features more than 40 films in seven thematic blocks — chosen families, indigenous and bispiritual resilience, black and queer stories, Afro-queer communities of the West Indies and Guyana.

Opening on October 15 at the Plaza Theatre with an excerpt from Terry Blade's My Gender Is Black, in the Canadian premiere; world premieres (at midnight children die, PLENUM); the collective exhibition Le/The Sanctum at the Maison de la culture de Côte-des-Neiges as early as October 22nd; and a closing "Celebrating Our Voices" on October 25th, between drag, dance, humour and poetry, before a great drag evening at the DD's Club.

Good to know

Projections at $8, 45$ in-room passport (+ taxes).

Your images are worth Festivos

You are at a festival, a concert, a village party, a traditional party, a private party — even two or three, on a boat or on a plane? Send us your images: Festival TV analyses them, and if they are broadcast, they pass on with your name in credit. Program in preparation. All the parties of the world interest us: we want to see how different communities celebrate life and manifest their joy.
