The Guinean diaspora's great celebration in Canada

Since 2010, Miss Guinée Canada has crowned, in Montreal, the ambassador of Guinean culture in Canada. Behind the gala stands a non-profit community organization working in cultural, social and humanitarian affairs: its mission, "to promote the culture and beauty of Guinean women in Canada"; its vision, "to forge an entrepreneurial spirit and women's leadership"; its values: Equality, Harmony, Mutual Aid, Pride, Diversity, Inclusion, Integration and Selflessness.

The winner takes home far more than a crown: for one year, she serves as the ambassador of Guinean culture in Canada and carries a humanitarian project in Guinea. The pageant has become the great festive gathering of the Guinean diaspora in Canada — an evening where Guinea tells its story, sings and celebrates in Montreal.

2026 election: registration is open

The eleventh edition is in preparation: candidate recruitment has launched on the organization's official website. The date and venue of the 2026 gala have not yet been announced — this page will be updated as soon as they are officially published. The selection criteria published by the organization:

  • Born female
  • Of Guinean origin or born to a Guinean parent
  • Living in Canada with legal status
  • Minimum DEP (Quebec vocational diploma)
  • Aged 18 to 25
  • At least 1.70 m tall, without heels
  • Single and without children
  • An identifiable address
  • No artifice altering one's natural appearance

The official prizes: the Miss receives a $1,500 cheque, a complimentary plane ticket for the humanitarian project in Guinea, admission to the Miss Guinée Nationale pageant — with the possibility of representing Guinea internationally — a beauty gift basket, a partner hair-care certificate and professional photo sessions. The first runner-up receives $750 and the second runner-up $500, with equivalent components.

The latest edition: Montreal, October 12, 2025

The tenth edition took place on Sunday, October 12, 2025, in the evening, at Salle Jacques-Maurice of Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf in Montreal, under the theme of diversity and inclusion. Six candidates competed before the jury: Fatoumata Kanté, Ramata Jallow Bangoura, Kadiatou Said Bangoura, Djenab Alpha Diallo, Mariam Souaré and Rose Wido Haba.

Milestones

The pageant was born in 2010, carried by the Comité Miss Guinée Canada — chaired by Fama Traoré — and the Association des Jeunes Guinéens du Canada. The first edition, on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at the Palais des Congrès de Montréal, crowned Ramata Kourouma. In 2014, Saran Bah was elected Miss Guinée Canada — her video tutorial is still published on the official website. Kadiatou Rafiou Diallo held the title in 2019.

After the pandemic pause, the gala made its big comeback on Saturday, October 12, 2024: a ninth edition at Salle Jacques-Maurice of Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf, organized by Leadership Guinée Canada under the theme "Merveilles de Guinée" (Wonders of Guinea). The tenth followed in 2025 — and the eleventh is in preparation for 2026.
