The festival
Mount Isa Mines Rodeo is the largest rodeo in the southern hemisphere: since 1959, the red dust of this mining town in Queensland has been rising under the hoofs for three days of bulls, broccols, barrel racing and lasso. The 2026 edition is held from August 7 to 9 at Buchanan Park Events Complex, with its 750 competitors and an audience that triples the population of the city.
Eight seconds may seem like an eternity: champions defend their most coveted belt buckles, and evening concerts extend the party on the night of the Outback. The living emblem of the Australian bush.
