The festival
Every Southern winter, the small university town of Makhanda, in the Eastern Cape, is transformed into the capital of the arts of South Africa. Since 1974, the National Arts Festival has been deploying theatre, music, dance, humour, literature, visual arts and experimental forms, between main program and Fringe open to new voices. It is the largest multidisciplinary meeting in the country, a factory of creations where there are confirmed artists and rising generation.
During the festival, the whole city becomes a stage.
You are at a festival, a concert, a village party, a traditional party, a private party — even two or three, on a boat or on a plane? Send us your images: Festival TV analyses them, and if they are broadcast, they pass on with your name in credit. Program in preparation. All the parties of the world interest us: we want to see how different communities celebrate life and manifest their joy.
