The festival

Nauryz, the "new day", is the New Year of the Steppes: on 21 March, in the spring equinox, Kazakhstan celebrates the renewal of nature. During three holidays, from 21 to 23 March, we wear new clothes, visit the family and neighbours, exchange gifts and vows of peace and abundance around shared meals, including the kozh nauryz with seven ingredients.

UNESCO has been a member of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity, celebrated for more than three thousand years throughout Central Asia, and Nauryz is less a festival than a promise: to start again together, reconciled with spring.

Good to know

CAS "out of ranking" treated as requested: diffuse national celebration, cat="out". Verified at UNESCO (Official page International Day of Nowruz, open and read: 21 March, first day of spring, part of 2009 and extended in 2016 to include Kazakhstan) and intersected by the Kazakhstan Law on Holidays (Nauryz Meiramy holiday on 21, 22 and 23 March, text of law consulted in search). Legal fixed dates, recurring each year, not an ad edition 2027: "Ordinary period". The city of the file (Almaty) kept as an anchor, the feast being celebrated throughout the country — not to be presented as a festival located in Almaty.

Your images are worth Festivos

You are at a festival, a concert, a village party, a traditional party, a private party — even two or three, on a boat or on a plane? Send us your images: Festival TV analyses them, and if they are broadcast, they pass on with your name in credit. Program in preparation. All the parties of the world interest us: we want to see how different communities celebrate life and manifest their joy.
