Paléo Festival Nyon
Nyon and the shores of the Geneva, to be seen during the Paleo Festival.
Nyon is not just about its plain of Asse: the city of Germany is guarding a medieval castle, museums and banks bathed by the largest lake in Western Europe. Here are the places checked to see around the festival.
The Castle of Nyon
In the heart of the old town, the white fortress of the Counts of Savoy dominates Nyon and Lake Geneva since the XIIe It houses the historic museum of the city and its famous collection of Nyon porcelains, manufactured in the local factory in XVIIIe From its terrace, the view runs over the lake, the Alps and, in clear weather, the Mont Blanc.
The Museum of Geneva
Just a short walk from the shores, the Musée du Léman tells the life of the lake: fishing, navigation — including the famous boats of Leman — and the rescue and aquatic fauna, with its fish aquariums of the lake. A perfect visit to understand the freshwater giant at the gates of the festival.
The shores of Lake Geneva and the old town
The promenade of the banks leads from the beach of Nyon to the flowered docks, between plane trees and terraces. Above, the old town runs its alleys, the Place du Château and the remains of the Roman settlement of Noviodunum — the Roman museum of Nyon preserves mosaics and amphorae of this time, just a few streets from the lake.
