Panagbenga
Flower Festival · Baguio, Philippines
The festival
Panagbenga, the festival of flowers in Baguio, is a month-long festival that transforms the mountain town of the Cordillera into a giant garden. Its name, in Kankanaey language, means "flowering season". Designed in 1995 by lawyer Damaso Bangaoet Jr. and launched in February 1996, the festival was to raise the morale of Baguio after the devastating earthquake in Luzon in 1990 and to animate the touristic hollow of February.
The 30th edition ran from February 1 to March 8, 2026, with two major events closing: the big street dance parade on February 28 and the parade of the flowered tanks on March 1, followed by Session Road in Bloom, the pedestrian fair that extends the festival until March 8. Street dances are inspired by Bendian, a dance of the ibaloi celebration.
Fresh matins, fresh flowered tanks and floral exhibitions in Burnham Park do the rest: Panagbenga has become one of the major cultural events in the Philippines. The dates 2027 will be published by the Baguio Flower Festival Foundation.
