Parrtjima — A Festival in Light
Arts and Cultures · Alice Springs, Australia
The festival
Parrtjima illuminates the red desert: ten free nights, from April 10 to 19, 2026 for its 11th edition, at the foot of the 300-million-year-old Tjoritja (MacDonnell Channels) on Alice Springs' arrern land (Mparntwe). The only light festival in the world led by Aboriginal people, he throws the art of First Nations on the mountain itself — the Light Show Ranges — and in installations like Grounded.
The theme 2026, "Language" (language), brought together more than 36 First Nations artists and 50 performers from Electric Fields to BARKAA, for a record influx of more than 22,700 entries to Desert Park. The desert as a screen, the oldest living culture as light.
