The festival
Founded in 2005 by drummer Bart Weisman, the Provincetown Jazz Festival is a summer-long event that is the oldest colony of artists in the United States, at the tip of Cape Cod. The festival hosts musicians from the United States, Canada, Cuba, Brazil, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Japan and Australia, and provides a portion of its recipes to the Jazz in the Schools program, which offers free jazz concerts in Cape Cod schools.
In August 2026, its 22nd edition was published in full for both concerts; in the fall, the festival was extended by a series of free concerts at the Eastham Library. The 23rd edition was announced for August 2027.
