Rainforest World Music Festival

The festival

At the foot of Mount Santubong, in the cultural village of Sarawak, some 30 kilometres from Kuching (Borneo Malaysian), the Rainforest World Music Festival has been resonating the equatorial forest since 1998. Three days of workshops during the day — where musicians present their instruments, from the day-sape to the drums of West Africa — and concerts in the evening on the scenes in the jungle: more than 200 artists from 13 countries for the 2026 edition, under the theme "Regenerations: Roots & Rhythms".

The festival, organized by the Sarawak Tourism Office, is also a model of a sustainable festival (green Ruai awareness areas, water stations, 10,000 trees planted target). Ranked 8th World Festival by the Transglobal World Music Chart Festival 2025, it will hold its 30th edition in 2027.
