The festival
Rooster Walk is a music and arts festival created in 2009 in Martinsville, Virginia, in memory of two childhood friends, Edwin "The Rooster" Penn and Walker Shank. The event, carried by the non-profit organization Rooster Walk Inc., is contributing some of its recipes to local causes: a scholarship for students at the Martinsville High School and a program providing musical instruments to public schools in the region.
More than $400,000 has been donated to local and regional organizations since 2009, and every year, the Memorial Day weekend, the festival invests Pop's Farm, a green estate near Martinsville: six scenes, on-site camping, outdoor activities and family programming, children 12 years old and under entering free with a paying adult.
