The festival
The Theuila Festival is the great cultural festival of Samoa, named after the theuila, the country's emblem of red ginger flower: a week of siva (dance), songs, va'a'a (pirogian) races, kilikiti (Samoan cricket) and the Miss Samoa competition, each evening in front of the government palace in Apia.
After 35 years of history, the 2026 edition, from August 30 to September 5, takes the name of the Meatina Festival — "Treasure" — under the theme "Celebrations of the Arts and Culture", with a strong emphasis on youth and the transmission of the Samoan Fa'a, the art of living Samoan.
You are at a festival, a concert, a village party, a traditional party, a private party — even two or three, on a boat or on a plane? Send us your images: Festival TV analyses them, and if they are broadcast, they pass on with your name in credit. Program in preparation. All the parties of the world interest us: we want to see how different communities celebrate life and manifest their joy.
