The festival
The New Zealand branch of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD has been home to one of the most beautiful festival venues in the world: the Bowl of Brooklands, a natural amphitheater at Pukekura Park in New Plymouth, Taranaki.
The 2027 edition, from 12 to 14 March, is expected to be memorable: Troy Kingi will close his 10-book project, 10-book, 10-year-old genres, and 10-year-olds, world premieres with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra; Tinariwen Tuaregs and Fijian circus Fijian Flying Circus open a 26-name poster, from Altın Gün to DakhaBrakha. Three days of world music at the foot of Mount Taranaki.
