WOW — Women of the World Festival
Women and Equality Festival · Southbank Centre — Royal Festival Hall, Belvedere Road, London
The festival
Created at the Southbank Centre in 2010 by Jude Kelly, then art director of the house, and launched by a first festival in March 2011, WOW — Women of the World is presented as the world's largest festival celebrating women, girls and non-binary people. Held since 2018 by The WOW Foundation, it returns to its London home port for the weekend of International Women's Day: debates, workshops, music, humour and meetings with activists and artists.
In 2027, Gisèle Pelicot and Tarana Burke will be talking together for the first time in a conversation led by Jude Kelly. Like Meltdown, the other date at the house, WOW makes the Southbank Centre a place of conversations that go beyond the scenes.
