The festival
In the Ziro Valley, in Arunachal Pradesh, independent music grows in the middle of rice fields. Founded in 2012, the Ziro Festival celebrates passion, sustainability and cultural diversity: its scenes are constructed of bamboo and local materials, and it is members of the apatani community who welcome festivalgoers. For four days, the festival highlights indigenous tribes and artists from Northeastern India, alongside the independent Indian and international scene.
Its most recent edition took place from September 24 to 27, 2026, in a landscape of hills and golden fields.
