In Fez, Sufi culture sings mystical poetry: the 18th edition is under way
From October 17 to 24, 2026, Fez hosts the 18th edition of the Festival of Sufi Culture and World Wisdom, created in 2007 by Faouzi Skali. A festival not to be confused with the World Sacred Music festival.
Eight days of samâ’ and poetry
Spiritual concerts and brotherhood rituals at Bab El Makina and in the Jnan Sbil garden, forums at the Bou Inania medersa: the 2026 edition, ‘Mystical poetry, elixir of healing’, features Pakistan’s Qawwal, North India’s dhrupad and Aleppo’s dervishes, under the high patronage of King Mohammed VI.
Two festivals, one city, one founder
Faouzi Skali founded two festivals in Fez: the World Sacred Music festival in 1994, in early summer, and Sufi Culture in 2007, in October. Two organisers, two websites, two distinct gatherings — the Festival TV catalogue now presents each on its own entry.
