After the court rejected the appeals of the former organizers on 14 October 2026, a new team confirms a comic book appointment from 27 to 31 January 2027 in Angoulême. The capital of the 9th art is about to write the most beautiful page in its history: that of its rebirth.
There are festivals that we visit, and there is Angoulême: an entire city that becomes a comic strip board, walls painted in the colors of heroes, lines of readers that snake between capitals. For decades, every end of January, the world of 9th art makes its pilgrimage there. So when the 2026 edition of the historic festival was cancelled, against the background of boycotts of authors and governance crisis, it is a whole universe that has held its breath.
The show was completed this week: on 14 October 2026, the court of Angoulême rejected all the appeals of the FIBD association and 9th Art+ — the historical organizing company, which was liquidated in May 2026 — and validated the new team selected in April, which was gathered around the ADBDA and the Morgane group, with a dedicated structure called M:BD. Two days later, on 16 October, the new organizers confirmed the news that the entire comic book was waiting for: there will be an appointment in Angoulême, from 27 to 31 January 2027.
The face of this renaissance remains to be discovered: name, identity and first contents will be unveiled on November 3, 2026, at a press conference at the town hall of Angoulême.
