Power cut, a cappella concert: Koury Simple's popular triumph at Petit Sory

Article No. 292 · News · November 4, 2026 · Festival TV

The power went out mid-performance — but the crowd never let go: at the Petit Sory stadium, Koury Simple carried on a cappella while thousands of voices sang his choruses back. The double launch of 'Yanfanté', his second album, will be remembered as a weekend of communion.

Conakry (Guinea), October 31, 2026. After a sold-out VIP night the evening before at the Hôtel Noom, Koury Simple met his audience at the Petit Sory stadium in Nongo for the big popular concert launching 'Yanfanté', his second album — 16 tracks in total: 12 songs and 4 bonus tracks. A double event organised by Badiar Prod Events and Mamaya Boss.

Azaya, Levi Bobo and Fekangni Camara opened the Petit Sory night. Throughout the weekend, many artists came on stage to support Koury Simple: Soul Bang's and Manamba Kanté, King Alasko, Petit Ousté, Alifa, Petit Kouyaté, MD, Amaski, Med C, Djékoria Fanta and AB Sylla — and, from Mali, Mohamed Diaby and Lil Dou.

The blackout, then the choir

The moment the whole stadium will remember: a power cut, right in the middle of the performance. Koury Simple did not leave the stage — he carried on a cappella, and the crowd took over: on several songs, the audience sang his choruses back in unison, sometimes from start to finish, as if they knew the repertoire by heart. Because they do know it by heart. When an artist can switch off the sound system and continue the concert with the crowd as his only PA, the triumph is complete.
