Actualité
Falle Nioke has just completed a series of concerts in the first part of Duran Duran, at Pigeon. The official site of the British band announced Margate's quintet — of which Falle Nioke is the singer and percussionist — as a special guest on the five British dates of his autumn tour: Glasgow (OVO Hydro Arena, October 15), Belfast (SSE Arena, October 18), Birmingham (Utilita Arena, October 20), Liverpool (M&S Bank Arena, October 23) and Leeds (First Direct Arena, October 24, 2006). The day after the last date, the artist thanked the group for this opportunity on its social networks: "Thank you Jah for the opportunity to support Duran Duran."
Biographie
Born in 1988 in Youkounkoun, in the coniagui region of Boké, Guinea, Negus Falle Nioke — known as Falle Nioke — grew up in Conakry, where his father was a military member, before being sent to the country, near Boké: it was on the edge of the Rio Nunez that he formed his voice. He then left school for a troupe of traveling musicians and travelled West Africa for years, from Senegal to the Gambia, singing against lodging and covering. He subsequently settled in the United Kingdom — London first, then Margate, on the coast of Kent.
He also worked with producers Ghost Culture, Sir Was, Johan Hugo, Congo Natty, Barry Can't Swim, Alabaster de Plume and Joe Goddard, and published three EPs at PRAH Recordings, followed by his first album, "Love From The Sea" (Eat Your Own Ears Recordings, September 26, 2025), directed notably with Mike Lindsay (Tunng). In parallel, he sang at Pigeon, Margate's psychedelic quintet. Inspired by Oumou Sangaré, Bob Marley and Sory Kandia Kouyaté, he sang in eight languages and accompanied his voice with the gongoma, bolon and cassi.
With Pigeon, Falle Nioke holds the song and percussion of a quintet born from an improvised session in Margate: Graham Godfrey on drums, Steve Pringle on keyboards, Tom Dream on guitar and Josh Ludlow on bass — musicians, some of whom collaborated with Michael Kiwanuka, Little Simz and SAULT. The band mixes Afrobeat, funk, psychedelic rock and post-punk; it became known with the EP "Yagana", published by Soundway Records, then "Backslider" (2023), before a first album, "Outtanional", written notably by the title " Miami". The band's name comes from the pigeons that the singer raised during his childhood in Guinea.
In the spring of 2027 Pigeon took the road for his European tour "Outtanational", announced by the group's official poster: six stages in April 2027 — on 14 April in Brussels (Witloof Bar, Botanique), on 15 April in Amsterdam (Paradiso Nord), on 16 April in Rotterdam, at Motel Mozaique festival, on 17 April in Paris (Hasard Ludique), on 22 April in Copenhagen (VEGA) and on 23 April in Berlin (Gretchen).
