Rema
The child of Benin City became planetary star of the afrobeats — Singer and composer — Afrobeats, Afro-rave
Biographie
Divine Ikubor, says Rema, was born on May 1, 2000 in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. Remarked by D'Prince after a freestyle noticed on the networks, he signed in 2019 at Jonzing World — the label of D'Prince within Mavin Records — and published his first EP, "Rema", worn by the tube "Dumebi". His style, an African beats tinted with trap and pop, which he calls "African-rave", conquers the planet with "Calm Down" (2022): the remix with Selena Gomez reaches 3rd place on Billboard Hot 100 and becomes the first title worn by an African artist to exceed the billion tunes on Spotify.
After "Rave & Roses" (2022), his second album "HEIS" (2024) earned him a Grammy Award nomination. In 2026 he staged on Mawazine's stage in Rabat; in June 2027 he was to be on the poster of Afro Nation Portugal.
