Festival of African Days: Dances and Rythmes of the World
World Dances and Rhythms · Quebec, Quebec, Canada
The festival
The Festival des Journées d'Afrique: Danses et Rythmes du Monde de Québec is one of Québec's oldest intercultural festivals. It is carried by the Maison de production artistique et culturelle africaine (MAPACA), and brings together thousands of festivalgoers each year around shows, gastronomy, crafts, conferences and family activities, and has been spreading African and world cultures in the national capital for nearly 30 years.
In 2023, Place d'Youville, in the heart of Old Quebec, hosted the festival: the edition opened on July 27, 2023 with the concert of the Burkinabe singer Kandy Guira, inventor of the African-electrorop, which Festival TV filmed on site. In 2026, the festival celebrates its 30th edition, from August 27 to 30, 2026, at Parc de la Francophonie.
