Biographie

Kandy Guira is a Burkina Faso singer, who was born in 1984 in Yamoussoukro, Côte d'Ivoire, and grew up in Abidjan, a cosmopolitan city where music intersects, listening to Miriam Makeba, Celine Dion and Angélique Kidjo — with South African Brenda Fassie as an idol. At five years old, she moved to Burkina Faso, her country of origin, and made her debut in the cabarets of Ouagadougou, in the group Kalianga, which was led by the artist Abdouaye Cissé.

In 2008, she won the first prize of National Culture Week (SNC), one of the major meetings of Burkina Faso music, and then toured Germany. Mannequin, actress and dancer at her hour, she chose music: her songs speak of love, hope and the difficulties of life, especially those of women. In 2009, she released her first album, "The New Year's Eve" (SNC), which was published in the National Culture Week (SNC). M'bain tribute to his mother.

M'ba — "the mother" — is dedicated to the one who saw the life of artist with a bad eye: Kandy Guira's entire journey is a story of emancipation, and her songs tell it. Ten years later, she slides a "M'Ba (Mother)" into the heart of her EP Tek-La-Runda, as a thread between the young singer of cabarets and the artist who takes over.

She is based in France and is the chorister of great names on the African scene — Manu Dibango, Cheick Tidiane Seck, Esperanza Spalding — and still accompanies Oumou Sangaré, who supports her and sees her as a future African star. Cheick Tidiane Seck, who met her during her European tours, takes her under her wing. She is also a member of the Amazones of Africa, the collective of West African divas. In 2019, her EP was established in France. Tek-La-Runda ("I take over") marked the start of his solo career; in 2021, the album Nagtaba (« ensemble », en mooré), recorded with Alif Naaba, Jowee Omicil, Floby and Mai Lingani, she was a lance on an African and world tour that led her to Quebec and Montreal, where Festival TV met her and filmed her.

His " Faso electropop" — Burkina's traditional rhythms, warba and wiire, woven with electrical arrangements — became his signature. Nagtaba In March 2020, she returned to Burkina Faso to refine this sound on the red earth of men of integrity.

An engaged artist, Kandy Guira supports the cause of hearing impaired children: her concerts are accompanied by a song-signor who translates her songs into sign language, so that the party really is for everyone. Her texts speak of love, emancipation, solidarity between women and hope — in mooré, dioula, French and English.
