Kandy Guira, artist to watch in 2027
Programmators, note this name: Kandy Guira. The Burkinabe singer, who was the originator of the African-electropop, is preparing a new EP — and the festivals in North America and Australia are already watching it. Now, before the rise of 2027-2028, she and her team must be approached.

A signature that belongs to her
Born in Yamoussoukro, a great city between Abidjan and Burkina Faso — where she arrived at five years old — and formed in the cabarets of Ouagadougou, Kandy Guira — Guira Mamounata, of her real name — has forged a recognizable sound between a thousand: the African-electropop, also known as " Faso electropop". Burkina Faso's traditions meet with electronic grooves, in songs designed for the stage and for dance. She sings in mooré and dioula, but also in French and English.
His discography tells of a patient construction: a first album, "M'ba", since 2009, the EP "Tek-La-Runda" in 2019, then the album "Nartaba" — "together", in mooré — in 2021, with guests like Alif Naaba, Jowee Omicil, Floby and Mai Lingani. Since then, the singles have been linked: "COMME TOI", "Kilsi Yan", "Anna Yeele", "Talanloge", "Wàabo (Viens)" and "WOUMTABA L'argent" — whose official clip appeared in 2026 on his YouTube channel.
A passport of scenes already filled
Before she was a leading singer, Kandy Guira was a popular voice: singer of Manu Dibango, Cheick Tidiane Seck and Esperanza Spalding, she also sings within the Amazons of Africa — and Oumou Sangaré, her project sponsor, presents her as a future African star. On the scene: WOMAD, WOMEX, Musiques Métisses d'Angoulême, Les Nuits d'Afrique à Montréal, les Journées d'Afrique à Québec, where Festival TV filmed her in concert and in encounter. In 2025, the Kundé — the great awards of Burkinabe music — presented her with the Kundé of the best Burkinabè artist in the diaspora.
What programmers retain
A light and well-rounded training: a quartet — four musicians, five people on tour — based between Paris and Ouagadougou. A repertoire that crosses languages and audiences. And a detail that is increasingly important in the programming: its concerts are accompanied by a song-signor, so that the deaf and hard of hearing audiences fully share the show. Its production is ensured by the label Que du bonheur en son (QDBES).
2027-2028: window is open
Kandy Guira is preparing a new EP. Around her, interest is rising: North American and Australian festivals follow her path closely, and everything indicates an artist about to change scale in 2027-2028. For a festival direction, the calculation is simple: it is before this climb that an artist and his team are approached – when calendars are still open and easy conversations are easy.
