The festival
Since 1971, the Festival du nouvelle cinéma has made Montreal one of the world's capitals of author cinema every fall: nearly 200 works from all over the world, from emerging voices to the greatest filmmakers of today.
Its 55th edition, presented by Québecor — and in 2026 became an officially accredited festival by FIAPF — won "I Plant My Hand in the Garden" by Boris Hadžija and Hoda Taheri (Golden Louve of the International Competition) and "Clubfoot" by Nathan Donovan (Grand Prix of the National Competition).
The first Queer Louve in the history of the festival went to "Cœur Secret" by Tom Fontenille; the audience distinguished " Donde comienza el río" by Juan Andrés Arango (International Panorama), "Totality" (Temps Ø) and "Noctambules" (Les P'tits Loups).
