Indie rock, pop, folk · Rees-Haldern, Germany
Born in 1984 at the initiative of young people from the village, the Haldern Pop Festival transforms the former riding grounds of Haldern, on the banks of the Lower Rhine, into one of Germany's most beloved indie rendezvous. Its gauge remains voluntarily limited to about 7,000 people — the organizers refuse to enlarge it — and its public gives it a rare confidence: the festival often displays complete before even the announcement of the program. The 2017 edition (10-12 August) hosted notably The Afghan Whigs, Kae Tempest, Benjamin Clementine and Conor Oberst, filmed by Rockpalast (WDR).
