It's LAGOS: Felabration 2026 makes the New Afrika Shrine vibrate — Femi, Sun and Made Kuti carry Fela's flame!
At this very moment, Lagos dances to the sound of the afrobeat! Felabration 2026, the festival that celebrates the legacy of the legendary Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, is beating its full strength from 12 to 18 October at the New Afrika Shrine in Ikeja — and the grand finale is approaching this Sunday.
The theme of this edition raises the question that burned Fela's lips: "Who Are You" — who are you? An invitation, faithful to the philosophy of the creator of the Afrobeat, to question his identity, conscience and the norms of society. Created in 1998 by Yeni Kuti, one year after Fela's disappearance, Felabration became the largest African festival dedicated to a single artist: a week of concerts, exhibitions of art, fashion, dance and debates.
On stage, the Kuti dynasty is on the list: Femi Kuti and The Positive Force, Seun Kuti and Egypt 80, and Made Kuti, the third generation, carry the flame alongside guests like Musiliu Haruna Ishola, Terry Apala or Ice Prince. The week opened with the Dress Fela parade, which celebrates the iconic style of the master — bold prints, ankara and legendary scenic presence.
And the next generation is not left behind: the Fearless Rap Challenge shook the microphones on Tuesday, and the Fearless Dance Challenge ignited the track this Friday, October 16, before the big final on Sunday. From Freedom Park, which also hosts its own Felabration nights, to the walls of the Shrine, Lagos reminds the world that the afrobeat was born here — and that it continues to write its story there. Festival TV greets this total party, where music becomes conscious!
