KARAYIB: LASALLE DANCED TO THE CARIBBEAN SUN!
On a Saturday in October, a park on the Aqueduc Canal, and suddenly the Montreal air that tastes Barbados, the islands and the family party. On October 10, 2026, the Karayib Festival of LaSalle danced a whole neighborhood at Marie-Claire-Kirkland-Casgrain Park — free of charge, from 1:00 to 5:00 pm, for an edition presented as the first on the visuals of the event (to be confirmed).
You have to imagine the scene: the autumn leaves under your feet, the October sun on white tents, and from the entrance, a welcome table "KWIZIN" where you receive his Passporte des travers — the little booklet that opens right for tastings. Here, a grill with offered patties; there, the fish cakes of Barbados from Bussa by Fox, doubles, fresh coconut water and sugar cane. Further on, the children come out with their makeup, while the parents stop at Black Girl Magic Canada's booth — "Uplft, Inform, Empower and Inspire" — or the one at BAI — Welcome to the immigrant, who welcomes the newcomers to the neighbourhood.
Nine artists and two DJs for one afternoon: on the small lawn stage, MR. BOOM! holds the microphone, Selecta Road Warrior Blondi makes the turntables, and Choni_G, put forward on the poster, is part of the faces of the event. Around, we dance, we taste, we meet — exactly what the theme of the poster promised: "Culture, Community, Unity".
Because Karayib is first and foremost a matter of neighbours. Powered by MR. BOOM and the Henri-Lemieux Cultural and Community Centre, with the district of LaSalle, the Cornucopia Association of Canada, Black Girl Magic Canada and BAI, the festival was carried by volunteers from the community — such as Brian Smith, who had filmed the park a week earlier to invite everyone, and that Barbados House Montreal wanted to publicly congratulate him and his team on the "good success" of the event.
No ticket, no barrier: just a park, Caribbean flavors and rhythms, offered to all LaSalle. Karayib already has everything from an appointment that will come back. We take the bet — and passport!
