Kaya lights up her stoves: Wedbindé returns from November 19 to 21, 2026
The biennial Burkina Faso Heritage Festival will hold its 13th edition from November 19 to 21, 2026 in Kaya, in the North Central of Burkina Faso. Three days for traditional forge, social cohesion and African unity, carried by the Association Passaté.
The forge, memory of a people
For more than twenty years, the Passate Cultural Association has been saving in Kaya the know-how of traditional African blacksmiths and blast furnaces, preserved at the city's furnace museum. The festival is celebrating them: iron reduction demonstrations, training workshops — including a forge workshop for children — conferences, shopping streets and public shows.
A meeting in the Sahel and elsewhere
Artists and cultural actors from the Centre-Nord, the other regions of Burkina Faso, the West African subregion and Europe are there to discuss the role of blacksmiths — mediators and peacemakers — in social cohesion. The 12th edition, in 2024, brought together the region around the theme "The forge yesterday, today and tomorrow".
