THE GOD DESCENDS TO ANÉHO: THE FESTIVAL OF THE NOIRE DIVINITIES ANNOUNCES HIS GREAT RETURN TO JANUARY 2027!
Twenty years since the drums of Aného-Glidji vibrate the lagoon, and the party is only just beginning! The Festival of Black Divinities has just confirmed its 11th edition for January 2027 — with Ivory Coast as guest of honour and Brazil expected on the other side of the Atlantic. Direction Togo, where Africa celebrates its roots by dancing.
It must have been lived to believe it: in Aného-Glidji, between the lagoon and the ocean, the streets fill with white, the drums respond from one quarter to the other, and the black divinities take their place in the heart of the city. Since 2006, the festival carried by the association Acofin makes this city of southern Togo the capital of an immense heritage: the African spiritual traditions, celebrated, explained and transmitted — not as a frozen folklore, but as a living culture that dances, sings and shares.
The announcement fell on October 13, 2026, in the midst of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the festival, in the presence of Minister Isaac Tchiakpé and the Brazilian ambassador Luiz Ivaldo Villafañe Gomes. For this 11th edition, Côte d'Ivoire will be the country in honour — with a spotlight on Kouto, in northern Côte d'Ivoire — and Brazil is expected: the Afrodescendant diaspora returns to the source, and the bridge between Africa and the Americas is crossed by dancing. A project of "Acofin Day" in the cultural school weeks of the Prefecture of the Lakes will extend even the feast to the schools.
January 2027, Aného-Glidji: the precise dates of the edition will be announced by the organizers.
