Tuesday Gras 2027: New Orleans launches carnival season — Fat Tuesday will fall on February 9!
The Mardi Gras season in New Orleans will stretch from January 6 to February 9, 2027, Fat Tuesday day. The official tourist office in New Orleans has confirmed the calendar: the largest festival in the United States is on!
There is only one New Orleans. The city of Louisiana is a rock of jazz, a crucible of Creole and African-American cultures, and lives at the pace of its carnival. As early as Nuit des Rois on January 6, the season opens: the krewes — these societies that prepare their parades all year round — unveil their tanks, the brass bands grant their brass and the famous king cakes make their appearance in the bakeries.
The highlight? Tuesday, February 9, 2027, Fat Tuesday, the day the entire city explodes in a tide of purple, gold and green. The day before, Monday Gras (February 8) is already boiling the city. For those who have never lived a Mardi Gras, imagine parades that last weeks, monumental tanks, band arms at every corner of the street and this motto that says everything: "Let the good times roll!"
Why does Festival TV talk to you about it with so much passion? Because Mardi Gras is the perfect example of our mission: a community that celebrates life, its roots and its history through the festival. Afro-descendant culture is at the heart of it — Mardi Gras Indians, with sumptuous costumes hand-sewn for months, with rhythms that gave birth to jazz and funk.
From Quebec City to New Orleans, via Rio and Barranquilla, February 2027 will be THE month of the carnivals of the world. On Festival TV, our explorers prepare a cross-cover of this global carnival season. Prepare your most beautiful costumes: the journey begins!
