Kourosa, the city of "The Black Child"

Patrimoine

Kouroussa, on the banks of Djoliba, is the birthplace of Camara Laye (1928-1980), one of the founders of French-speaking African literature. His autobiographical novel "L'Enfant noir" (1953) tells his childhood here, in the concession of his father blacksmith and goldsmith, in the heart of the malinke culture. Walking in Kourossa is walking in the setting of the book: the river, the squares, the trades and the festivals of the village. A discreet literary pilgrimage, for lovers of African letters.
