Kensington Market

Market and multicultural neighbourhood

Toronto — Toronto's liveliest market: a whole neighbourhood of small streets — Baldwin, Augusta, Kensington — where, since the 1920s, world-food grocers, vintage shops, bakeries, cafés and kitchens from every continent rub shoulders. Once the city's Jewish market, then a crossroads of successive waves of migration, Kensington is best explored on foot, from stall to terrace; in summer, its Pedestrian Sundays close the streets to cars and open them to the party.
