THE WHOLE WORLD UNDER ADELAIDE'S GREAT TREES: WOMADelaide UNVEILS THE FIRST WAVE OF ITS 35TH YEAR!
Close your eyes: an immense botanic park, century-old eucalyptus trees, and suddenly the Sahara desert singing, an Indian violin answering English rave. This is WOMADelaide — “the world's festival” — which lifted the veil on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, on the first lineup of its 35th anniversary, March 5 to 8, 2027 at Botanic Park / Tainmuntilla.
At the top, British duo Underworld and their anthem “Born Slippy .NUXX”. Alongside them, already confirmed in September: Leon Bridges, Madness and the Tuareg band Tinariwen. Africa resounds strongly: Malian singer Fatoumata Diawara, South Africa's BCUC and Claudio Rabe, from Madagascar and Réunion. Canada slips in its grain of madness with Angine de Poitrine, a masked math-rock duo with polka dots and long papier-mâché noses — the same act that will shake Primavera Sound in the spring.
And then there are the goosebump returns: Indian violinist Dr L. Subramaniam, present at the very first WOMADelaide in 1992; Christine Anu, back after three decades; Ukraine's DakhaBrakha, revealed to Australia by this same festival in 2011. Australian firsts too: Altın Gün, Maria Arnal, Wild Wild Women, India's first all-female rap group, and the Bhutan Balladeers, the first artists from Bhutan in the festival's history.
Tickets are on sale. For thirty-five years the world has been meeting under those trees — and in March 2027, Festival TV will have ears there. WOMADelaide's fact sheet, already in our directory, is updated with this first lineup.
