MICRO-FESTIVALS DU QUÉBEC: these small scenes that make the summers — our selection to be discovered absolutely!
They have neither the budgets nor the projectors of the giants, but they have the essential: a community, a soul, a true feast. FME in Rouyn-Noranda, Le Festif! in Baie-Saint-Paul, Terre Ferme in Sainte-Barbe, Tout'Art in Québec... Dived into Quebec of the micro-festivals, those that Festival TV has set out to highlight.
Let's start with the Abitibi-Témiscamingue: every early September, the Festival de musique émergente (FME) transforms Rouyn-Noranda into the capital of discovery. It is there, in intimate rooms and unlikely places, that artists will reveal themselves that will be applauded by all of Quebec tomorrow. Dates 2027 not yet announced; the appointment usually falls around the Fête du travail.
Cap sur Charlevoix : The Festif! de Baie-Saint-Paul makes a whole city vibrate, with about thirty venues and a permanent circus atmosphere. For 2027, tourist directories advance dates from the end of July — but they diverge between them (21-24 or 22-25 July): to be confirmed on the official website before booking your chalet!
At the other end of the geographical spectrum, the Terre Ferme de Sainte-Barbe and Godmanchester festival celebrates the world's cultures at the heart of the region: Festival TV was there in 2025 for its 5th edition (26-28 September), between eclectic programming — by Marco Calliari at the tam-tams of Kattam — and a call to partners launched to the community. The same spirit was given to the Sherbrooke World Traditions Festival, an intercultural festival born in 1998 that makes discover the cultures of the communities of Estrie each mid-August, and to the Festival Juste Tout'Art de Québec, three free days dedicated to the world's cultures at Domaine de Maizerets, which we covered in 2026.
Their common point? They prove that a festival is not measured at its budget, but at the warmth of its community. So this summer, get off the beaten track: perhaps the most beautiful festival in Quebec is hidden in a village you don't know yet. Our explorers are already on their way.
