Fifty years of folk by the ocean

Founded in 1977, the Port Fairy Folk Festival has become one of Australia's most loved folk gatherings. For four days, the seaside village of Port Fairy, on Victoria's south-west coast, is transformed: the stages of the Southcombe Park arena, the historic streets, the gardens and the Fiddlers Green busking stage all live to the rhythm of concerts and workshops.

21 new names for the 50th anniversary edition

The third wave of artists has just landed: Joan As Police Woman, Midlake, Newton Faulkner, The Bushwackers, the sea shanties of The Longest Johns, Canada's Kaïa Kater, and Maria Arnal. They join The Waifs, John Butler Trio, Sixpence None The Richer, The Milk Carton Kids, Kate Rusby, Luka Bloom and Skerryvore: 59 names announced, with more to come.

A village festival, carried by its community

Behind the event stands a not-for-profit community organisation and a volunteer committee: that is what gives the 'Folkie' its soul, between families who return generation after generation and artists from all over the world. The final release of tickets is on sale through the official ticketing; children aged 12 and under attend free.
