Woodford Folk Festival: 39th edition unveils program in Australia
The Woodford Folk Festival has unveiled the program for its 39th edition, which will be held from Sunday, December 27, 2026 to Friday, January 1, 2027 in Woodfordia, Queensland. Over 2,800 artists and actors and more than 1,500 shows are announced for six days and six nights of celebration.
Between Christmas and New Year's Day, a Queensland valley, one hour north of Brisbane, is transformed into a short-lived village: Woodfordia. Woodford Folk Festival, produced by Woodfordia Ltd., is an annual gathering of one of Australia's largest cultural audiences, on more than 25 scenes — music, dance, theatre, circus, cinema, cabaret and debates.
Early, long-awaited
The program unveiled on October 17 is a highlight of the first appearances: Playlunch, DZ Deathrays punks and the trio indie-folk Sons of the East will discover Woodford. Peter Garrett & The Alter Egos will play at sunset, The Herd will celebrate the 20th anniversary of his album "The Sun Never Sets", and Emma Donovan will present "Take Me to the River", a rereading of the great black voices.
Canada on the agenda
The Flook Quartet (Ireland/UK) will return to Australia after more than twenty years of absence. Canada will be represented by The East Pointers, in a program that brings together artists from 14 countries and representatives of 42 indigenous nations.
