Sculptors of masks of forest Guinea
Artisans
In Guinea forest, masks are born in the workshops of sculptors, who cut wood according to the traditions of the communities of the region. These masks are not decorative objects: they dance, during the festivals and ceremonies, worn by the dancers of the villages. It is this living heritage that FESMAF, the Festival des Masques et Folklores de Guinée forestière, puts to the honor in N'Zérékoré. Meeting the sculptors is to understand from where the figures that are then shot on the square of the festival come from.
