How Festival TV is funded

We are often asked: if everything is free, who pays? Here is the answer, plainly. Transparency is our trademark — about money as about everything else.

Festival TV is free for you because partners pay for the celebration to be seen.

These are our founder's words, and they are our whole model in one sentence. The rest of this page spells it out.

Everything is free for the public

Discovering, watching, learning, taking part: for the public, Festival TV charges nothing. Free for everyone:

  • the channel and its programs — the live stream, the festival news and flashes, reports and interviews;
  • the world catalogue — 1,249 festivals, 585 artists and 729 verified professionals, in 161 countries, with search, profiles, dates and official links;
  • calls for applications and funding resources, with their deadlines;
  • the free account, favourites, follows and alerts;
  • DodoFest, free hosting between festival-goers during festivals;
  • the Volunteers Gateway and volunteer registration;
  • Festivos, the community's activity currency, earned by taking part.

During our first year, every Festival TV service is free in money terms, and no online payment is enabled on the site. Nobody should have to pay to find out that a festival exists.

What funds the celebration: professional work

What requires work, technical means or extra visibility can be commissioned by those who have a professional use for it: festivals, artists, businesses and institutions. That work is what funds free access for everyone:

  • media coverage and audiovisual production — a report on a festival, interviews, show recordings, an on-site studio, a special program, a live broadcast, an aftermovie, social media clips;
  • hosting by Moïse 1er, master of ceremonies for your stages and evenings;
  • visibility campaigns and program sponsorships — always identified as such;
  • EPKs and professional press kits for artists, presentation videos, mini-sites;
  • tailor-made mandates for institutions and destinations — country programs, cultural series, training;
  • image licences for media and broadcasters, through Festival TV Pro.

Every service is covered by a quote, prepared by our commercial department, with the terms explained before any commitment. No price is displayed on the site, and everything is concluded directly with the commercial department — never online.

Our trust charter

  1. Verified, correctable information. Our profiles rest on the official sources of festivals and artists; an error can always be reported to us, and we correct it — that is our method.
  2. Advertising is identified. Sponsorships, campaigns and paid promotions are always announced as such, never disguised as news.
  3. The newsroom stays free. A partner funds the celebration; it never decides our subjects or how we cover them.
  4. What is decided elsewhere cannot be bought. Paying never guarantees a booking, an editorial interview, or funding: those decisions belong to festivals and funding bodies.
  5. Terms before any order. Every service is quoted and explained before any commitment — no surprises afterwards.
  6. Permissions first. Images, recordings and live broadcasts happen with the permission of festivals, artists and the people filmed.
  7. Your data is not merchandise. Your personal information is protected and never sold — the details are in our privacy policy.
  8. Honest statuses. Open, in testing, or coming soon: every service states where it really stands, in our public roadmap.
  9. A way to report. An error, a problem, content that concerns you: write to us — the team reads and replies.
  10. AI, labelled as such. Festival TV is the first festive television channel built and powered by artificial intelligence; our AI-created or AI-assisted content is labelled as such.

What will never be for sale

  • your personal data — never sold, never handed over for commercial purposes;
  • a place in our rankings or in our search results — a profile is never ranked higher because its owner pays;
  • an editorial interview or story — the newsroom freely chooses what it covers;
  • a booking at a festival — bookings are decided by festivals, never by a payment to Festival TV.
