Islands of Loos

Plage

Twenty minutes by boat from Kaloum, the Loos archipelago is the breath of Conakry: Kassa and Roume (Room), their beaches of light sand, their fishing villages, the braised fish served on the sand. The Conakrykakas pass there for the day or weekend, with family; during the festivals of the capital, it is the escapade that everyone advises themselves — in the morning at the beach, in the evening at the concert. The island of Tamara and its lighthouse complete the archipelago, more wild.

Three main islands — Tamara, Kassa and Roume — and islands: fishing, diving, and sport fishing. In memory, the country's first bauxite factory, the Tamara lighthouse and the former Fotoba penitentiary tell the history of the islands.

Practical information — the crossing

The regular service of Kassa is provided by the shuttles of the Guinean Naval Society from the Sandervalia maritime station (resumption of service on 29 September 2026; daily rotations, 70 000 GNF on the round trip). The service has experienced interruptions in the past: check that it works before you move.
