Madina Market
Marché
It is the largest market in Guinea, and one of the largest in West Africa: a maze of stalls and shops in the heart of Conakry. There are everything — fabrics and bazin, indigo pagnes, fruits and vegetables, spices, percussions and everyday items. The market also bears a strong memory: here, in 1977, the revolt of the women of the market broke out, a turning point in the country's economic history. For the festival visitor, it is the heart of the capital, to be travelled by taking the time to observe and bargain.
