Le Bled Resto-Lounge

African cuisine and shows

Montreal — An authentic African restaurant with a tropical flavour, at 2112 Saint-Denis Street, corner of Sherbrooke, steps from the Quartier des spectacles. You eat there, you dance there, you watch shows there: it is the address Festival TV recommends to festival-goers visiting Montreal, first of all during the Festival International Nuits d'Afrique.

The African table of the Latin Quarter

Le Bled describes itself as "one of a kind and a must in Montreal": a subtle blend of tradition and modernity, in a warm, colourful setting, with live music ambience and shows as diverse as its loyal clientele from every horizon. Its cooking travels through the lands of the Mandé, the Peuls, the Bantus and the peoples of the Sahara — and of course Europe and North America.

The restaurant has two dining rooms — also designed for themed events: birthdays, office parties, business meetings — and a terrace overlooking the Latin Quarter, ideal for a meal and a drink in summer. Its services: full bar, delivery, catering, WiFi, secure card payment, takeout, DJs and audiovisual.

Getting there

Le Bled Resto-Lounge is at 2112 Saint-Denis Street, Montreal, QC H2X 3K9, at the corner of Sherbrooke Street, in the Latin Quarter. From the stages of the Quartier des spectacles, it is a few minutes' walk up Saint-Denis; the Berri-UQAM and Sherbrooke metro stations are nearby. It is the natural stop before or after a concert: dinner early, the night late — on Fridays and Saturdays, the kitchen and the party run until 3 a.m.

During the festivals

All summer, downtown's big events play a few streets from its door. During the Festival International Nuits d'Afrique, whose outdoor stages beat at the heart of the Quartier des spectacles, Le Bled is the African table closest to the party — its own official page presents its nights as those of the "village de l'Afrique". Same reflex during the Montreal International Jazz Festival, the Francos de Montréal and the comedy festival Juste pour rire / Just For Laughs: dinner at Le Bled, then the Quartier des spectacles stages, on foot.

The same family, grocery side

Le Bled is also a grocery store: on Jean-Talon Street East, Marché Le Bled — African and Caribbean grocery, dibiterie and charcoal grilling — stocks up festival-goers. Both establishments meet in Festival TV's Le Bled mini-site.
